This is Boris as I received received him on February 1, 2006 from the dealer.  He still has to go back and get a bunch of Options.

He’s still just a car.

Boris now has the dealer installed options and is starting look as planned.

I had looked for many months to find these “Full Moon” wheel covers.  I saw a comment that “may not fit Japanese wheels”.  I bought them hoping they would fit, otherwise I would send them back.  I didn’t buy the car until many months later and popped one of the wheel covers on.  It went right on except for about a ¼” on one side.  I figured they would go on OK with a little more persuasion.  I had them Sand Blasted to get the chrome prepped for painting,  then took them to a Professional Auto Painting Shop and had them painted with the matched color of the car.  Cost at this point was $335.  At the paint shop we tried to put them on and hit that snag at ¼” from being seated.  They were riding a ridge towards the center of the wheel.  THEY REALLY WOULDN’T FIT!

Now Boris has his Windshield Decal, but still with the factory wheel covers..

Sadly. A few weeks later something cracked the windshield, so it had to be replaced, and I lost my decal.  I really wasn't happy with that decal anyway.  It was applied to the inside of the glass and wasn't very visible.

That was the 3rd windshield my Insurance company bought me in less than 18 months.

I’ll bet you still haven’t figured out why “Boris”

Hey, I found some “Racing Disks”.  I really like these, they look just “OUTRAGEOUS”

Again, sand blasting to prep the stainless steel for painting, and then back to the paint shop.  They still had paint left over from the 1st job so these only cost $250.  They made a clicking sound and I bent the retaining tabs to get them as tight as possible.  Drove them on local roads only for over a week and they weren’t loosening or anything so took a run up I-15 2 days in a row.  Came out of Costco the 2nd time and the right front cover is GONE!  I think I lost it on a rough stretch of I-15 at about 93mph.  I didn’t care if I found it because if they wouldn’t stay on I couldn’t use them.  Can you imagine a wheel cover coming at you at over 90mph?

So now this is the solution.  Go  to the local hardware, get 2 cans of Krylon for plastic, wash the wheel covers with a strong detergent, wipe them down with paint thinner, and then put 8 coats of paint on each cover.  Cost $10.

I still preferred the outrageous look of the racing disks.

OK, here is Boris currently and I think he is finished, unless I decide to buy a set of “Bolt On Racing Disks”, they are available.   :)

If you still haven’t figured out why “Boris” nobody else could either so I put a hint on the lower right rear window.   Look Close.

BTW the decal on the lower left says;  ”Enough is Enough”  “Vote Democratic”

In case you STILL didn’t figure out “Boris”.

It’s Boris as in Karloff, the actor who played in the original Frankenstein movie.  I was telling a client that I wanted a Scion xB.  He looked puzzled, and I said, the little square box.  He thought a while, and then said “OH, the Frankenstein Car”.  The light came on, and I was about blown away!  That was a great theme for my xB.  So “Boris was born, NO, correction, conceived”.

Hope you enjoyed my picture story book.  I am having a bunch of fun with Boris.
